Why are we called "The Fellas"?
Once upon a time in the heart of Detroit, there lived a group of friends united by their love for good food, camaraderie, and community. They were known simply as “The Fellas.”
Their journey began long ago, back in ’84, when a young man named Kevin dreamed of owning a restaurant. His passion for cooking was ignited at the tender age of 12, under the tutelage of his wise uncle, who taught him the secrets of BBQ and soul food.
But life had its twists and turns, and Kevin’s culinary dreams took a backseat as he pursued other ventures. Yet, the fire within him never died. In 2007, he decided to get serious and honed his skills, determined to bring his vision to life. In 2013, “The Fellas” was born, not just as a food truck, but as a beacon of hope and unity in their beloved city.
Their food was more than just a meal; it was a love letter to Detroit – a melting pot of flavors that celebrated the city’s rich history and diverse culture. From smoky BBQ ribs dripping with sauce to crispy fried chicken that transported you to grandma’s kitchen, each dish told a story of tradition, passion, and pride.
But “The Fellas” were more than just chefs; they were pillars of their community. They sponsored local sports teams, volunteered at neighborhood events, and provided meals for those in need. Their food truck became a gathering place, where strangers became friends and memories were made over plates piled high with goodness.
As word spread of their mouthwatering fare and warm hospitality, “The Fellas” became a household name, drawing crowds from far and wide. Lines formed around the block, as people eagerly awaited their turn to experience the magic of “The Fellas.”
Through hard work, authenticity, and a commitment to their city, “The Fellas” turned their dreams into reality. And though their journey had its ups and downs, they knew that as long as they had each other and their community by their side, they could overcome any obstacle that came their way.
And so, the story of “The Fellas” continues to unfold, one plate at a time, as they serve up love, laughter, and the best darn BBQ!
